CANONICAL NAMES OF THE EPISCOPAL CEREMONIES

1. For a priest who is being promoted to the office of diocesan Bishop: CEREMONY OF HIS EPISCOPAL CONSECRATION AND CANONICAL POSSESSION OF HIS OFFICE OR DIOCESE.

2. For an auxiliary bishop who is being appointed as diocesan bishop: CEREMONY OF THE CANONICAL POSSESSION OF HIS OFFICE OR DIOCESE.

3. For a diocesan Bishop who is being transferred to another diocese as diocesan Bishop: CEREMONY OF THE CANONICAL POSSESSION OF HIS OFFICE OR DIOCESE.

4. For a priest who is promoted to the office of Coadjutor Bishop: CEREMONY OF HIS EPISCOPAL CONSECRATION AND CANONICAL POSSESSION OF HIS OFFICE.

5. For a diocesan bishop who is appointed to the office of Coadjutor Bishop: CEREMONY OF CANONICAL POSSESSION OF HIS OFFICE.

6. When the episcopal see is vacant and the Coadjutor Bishop immediately becomes the bishop of the diocese for which he has been appointed provided that he has legitimately taken possession of it: CEREMONY OF HIS SOLEMN INAUGURATION OR BEGINNING OF HIS NEW MINISTRY.

7. For a priest who is being promoted to the office of Auxiliary Bishop: CEREMONY OF HIS EPISCOPAL CONSECRATION AND CANONICAL POSSESSION OF HIS OFFICE.
